This past Sunday (July 25) contemporary celtic band Craicmore performed their award winning music in Marvista Park. This was the second concert in Normandy Park’s annual “Music in the Park” concert series.
The award-winning group played a mix of contemporary and traditional music from Ireland and Scotland. They even slipped a Canadian piece into their set!
The concert series continues on August 1 at 5:00 PM with a double-bill of Recess Monkey and the Normandy Park Youth Orchestra.

This past Sunday (July 18) Normandy Park officially kicked off their summer Music in the Park series with the rambunctious musical styling of Locust Street Taxi.
The clouds parted in time for the concert and the audience spent a beautiful, sunny evening in Marvista Park listening to musical selections that ranged from classic cover songs to the Sesame Street theme, with plenty of original compositions in between.
Free iced coffee from Starbucks was available and the friendly folks from Archery Bistro operated a small concession table. We’re told they plan to try to be at future concerts and may expand their offerings.
If you missed this concert, don’t despair! There’s plenty more music to come in Marvista Park this summer. Next Sunday (July 25), contemporary Celtic band Craicmore will be performing starting at 5:00 PM.
If you missed Locust Street Taxi, or really want to see them for free again, they’ll be performing at Lake Burien School Park on August 12 at 6:30 PM.
Photographer Michael Brunk was at the concert and put together this slideshow featuring music recorded live at Sunday’s concert. Be sure to check your volume before clicking!

The Seattle Weekly has an interesting story on how Normandy Park resident Eddie Rodriguez and his band, Los Volcanes, ended up recording the song “Red, Red Wine” for pop legend Neil Diamond.
And this Friday (Feb. 6th), Eddie and his band will be playing it at a tribute to Diamond in LA. Other bands on the bill include Coldplay, Foo Fighters, and Tim McGraw, among others
