On Tuesday, June 2, 2020, Normandy Park Police Chief Dan Yourkoski released the following statement about the police killing of George Floyd:
To the Normandy Park Community,
All of us here at the Normandy Park Police Department were sickened to view the video of the tragic death of George Floyd. It is contrary to not only the core values we hold dear of integrity, accountability, and community, but also the professional standards put into practice every day by your Police Department.
We do not tolerate bigotry or racial intolerance. We treat everyone with respect and compassion while still holding people accountable for their actions. We strive to be a source of pride for the Normandy Park community and represent the inclusiveness of the Park where everyone feels welcome.
