Highline Tutoring and Testing Center Offers Summer Program

Let’s face it, families with school aged children all throughout our nation were thrown a curveball with the outbreak of Covid-19 this spring. The sudden transition to distance learning has presented a big challenge.

If you, like so many other parents, are concerned that your student may have fallen behind, you owe it to yourself to check out the programs available through Highline Tutoring and Testing Center in Burien. Now in their 37th year serving Highline area students, the HTTC team have the experience and options to help your student continue achievement, even in a Covid-19 world.

HTTC’s summer tutoring program is available now!

Highline Tutoring and Testing Center of Burien has been actively working with families throughout the school building closures through online tutoring. Their staff learned online programs and how to use Zoom, Skype and Face-Time, while keeping up with families who were adjusting to a new lifestyle. In addition, HTTC picked up access to innovative learning programs such as IXL online learning which supports Math and Language Arts, to further assist students online or with their assigned work.

HTTC will continue to be open throughout the Covid-19 summer for their 37th summer session. It is important to note that they are following the CDC and King County guidelines for Covid-19 for the safety of their families and tutors.

As usual, HTTC continues to work with students of all ages on skills that they may not have mastered (especially with all of the school changes) or those who just need to continue to keep up their skills levels. Classes may be in person or online, depending on the status of state guidance and the comfort level of the parents. Their rates are reasonable, with no changes due to the virus.

HTTC is offering instruction in all subjects and credit classes for kindergarten through high school, adult education, ESL (ELL), and college classes. Some of the subject for tutoring are Math, English, Writing and Reading. These subjects lead to more success is all of the other core classes.

As of June 2020, Wendy Wenger, owner & educational supervisor of HTTC, joined the staff of Academy Northwest, a state approved private school. As a Teacher Consultant of the school, she is able to set up credit classes for credit retrieval and other credit courses for incoming 9th graders through 12th grade. This is a unique opportunity for students who did not have a successful transfer from in-class work to computer work to make up credits or earn another credit.

It should be noted that last year, HTTC was recognized nationally in “First Time Ever Tutoring Awards” for Helping Girls in Stem Programs.

This fall as they start their 38th year of servicing families in King County, they would like to encourage you to come and visit online, in person, or call to see how they can help your students start this coming fall with confidence.
