On Saturday, July 11, 2020, Lynne Hewitt, owner of Normandy Park Athletic, announced on Facebook that – due to financial difficulties suffered due to the COVID-19 pandemic – the gym will not be reopening.

The club first shut its doors on March 16, 2020, due to Gov. Inslee’s initial regulations in regards to the coronavirus.

“We cannot recover from the financial devastation of Covid-19,” Lynne said. “I have thought of every scenario and possibility to get through this, but the only realistic answer is to continue to keep our doors closed. I will miss seeing all the staff, trainers, and members.”

It was in business for 12 years, and the 13,000 square foot health club was located in the Normandy Park Towne Center at 19901 1st Ave S.

“I think we provided a wonderful place for so many in the community and I will always be grateful for everyone’s support,” Lynne added. “I will miss seeing all the staff, trainers, and members.”

I am heart broken…

Dear Normandy Park Athletic Community,

It is with a heavy heart that share this with everyone. I have not wanted to accept the things that have been going on in our state or our country. But with no end in sight, it is with sadness that I let all of you know that Normandy Park Athletic will not be reopening. We closed on March 16, 2020 due to government mandates in regards to Covid19. I have had a great 12 years. I think we provided a wonderful place for so many in the community and I will always be grateful for everyone’s support. I have enjoyed our community.

We cannot recover from the financial devastation of Covid-19. I have thought of every scenario and possibility to get through this, but the only realistic answer is to continue to keep our doors closed. I will miss seeing all the staff, trainer’s, and members.

Yours in health,
Lynne Hewitt
