If you were wondering what the major police response was Thursday morning, Nov. 12, 2020, around 9:30 a.m. near S. 177th Street and Normandy Park Road in the Manhattan neighborhood of Burien (map below), police chased, caught and arrested a man suspected of breaking into a house and carjacking.

It all started when the suspect broke into a house in Burien’s Three Tree Point neighborhood.

Here are more details from Burien Police:

    • Police say that the male suspect first broke into a house in the 16300 block of Maplewild Ave SW in Three Tree Point, was confronted by the homeowner, then threatened to shoot the homeowner.
    • The homeowner let the suspect leave the house and the suspect then jumped into the homeowner’s truck. The homeowner grabbed his shotgun and went outside.
    • The homeowner, now armed with his shotgun, confronted the suspect in his truck. The suspect fled.
    • Police located the truck and gave chase. The suspect crashed and ran into an apartment complex in the Manhattan neighborhood. He kicked multiple apartment doors in an effort to find refuge.
    • Police from Burien, SeaTac, Normandy Park, Washington State Patrol, King County Sheriff and Metro Transit Police all worked together to locate and arrest the suspect.

A large number of officers, K-9 and KCSO’s Guardian One helicopter responded, making for a huge police response.

During the incident, police asked residents at the Wellington Place Apartments complex to stay inside.

There were no injuries.
